Highlights

Paramedic training courses at New Britain EMS Academy are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) based on recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

  • We believe in TOTAL IMMERSION TRAINING – through an integrated approach to anatomy and physiology, paramedicine, and high-fidelity simulation in a real-world environment – “WE TRAIN AS WE FIGHT!”
  • Our Academy-style learning environment, complete with issued uniforms for each phase of the program, low student-to-instructor ratios, and use of recruit/instructor relationships, build workforce readiness and student camaraderie through our emphasis on teamwork and leadership.
  • We incorporate compelling training opportunities such as Escaping Violent Encounters, and Tactical Emergency Casualty Care to facilitate integration of medical care with related sectors of public safety.
  • Our program tuition includes: Uniforms, textbooks, online resources, fitness opportunities, ACLS/PALS/NRP/TECC/PHTLS.

Mission Statement

The Central Connecticut Paramedic Education Program Consortium at the New Britain EMS Academy will provide extraordinary emergency medical service education by integrating highly qualified instructors, innovative instructional tools, and first-class clinical and internship opportunities. These courses of study will create the most clinically competent, compassionate, workforce ready EMS professionals in the state of Connecticut.

Program Goal

In accordance with CoAEMSP standards, our goal is "To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels."

Once your payment is received, you will be provided with access to the online application. Please allow 1-2 business days for processing. Upon completion of the application and arrival of supporting materials, you will be invited to interview for a seat in the upcoming paramedic class.  Admissions will occur on a rolling basis. Upon acceptance, a non-refundable tuition deposit of $1,600 is required to hold a seat in the program.

Effectiveness Data

The Retention threshold is based on the percentage of students who started on the enrollment date (who began Paramedic coursework) who are enrolled and graduated. Retention is affected by student attrition and includes attrition secondary to academic reasons (withdrawal/dismissed due to grades) and non-academic reasons (financial/medical/personal/other).
