NREMT Practical Exams

NBEMSA periodically hosts NREMT Practical Exams based upon the EMT course schedule. Seats for these exams are extremely limited. Please check the registration page for any dates that are currently available. For a list of examinations taking place in Connecticut please visit:

EMT Psychomotor Exam Description

There are 5 stations available for NREMT Practical Exam Testing: You must pass all 5 to complete the psychomotor portion of your certification testing. The stations that are tested are:

  • Trauma Patient Assessment
  • Medical Patient Assessment
  • Airway Management
  • Cardiac Arrest Management
  • Random Skill Station (either Long Bone Immobilization/Joint Immobilization or bleeding control)

The New Britain EMS Academy is a host for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) practical exams as approved by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. All Connecticut practical examinations are tested to the latest version of the NREMT Skill Sheets.

Both initial and repeat examinations are offered monthly. Observation opportunities as exam victims/patients are also available at each test. Anyone testing for the first time or that has tested previously and failed 4 or 5 stations should register for an initial examination.

NREMT Paramedic Exams

NBEMSA does not host NREMT Paramedic Psychomotor Examinations routinely. We typically host these exams every six months and there is very limited space for outside candidates. When we do host them and there is availability for outside candidates, the exam will be posted on our course registration page and the NREMT find an exam webpage listed here.

Paramedic Psychomotor Exam

Description

Paramedic candidates are tested on six skills. You must pass all 6 to complete the psychomotor portion of your testing. The stations that are tested are:

  • Patient Assessment: Trauma
  • Dynamic Cardiology
  • Static Cardiology
  • Oral Board A & B
  • Integrated Out of Hospital Scenario

The New Britain EMS Academy is a host for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) practical exams. All practical examination occurs with an NREMT Exam coordinator on site. Practical examinations are tested to the latest version of the NREMT Skill Sheets.
